LYT (light) – LEARNING YOUR TOMORROW!

One of the unique programs that “The Possibilities Team” offers is LYT. This program, targets women who would like to learn non-traditional female skills. Many women are in abusive relationships and stay there because of their lack of marketable skills. By giving them the “nuts and bolts” information and skill training, they will be able to make healthier choices. LYT shows women that there are alternative ways of behavior and thinking. The abuse cycle is broken when women are empowered. Children of these women can see that they too have a choice - to emulate the positive behavior and not continue the cycle of violence.

LYT also targets a huge under represented population – women who are 40+. LYT gives these women basic knowledge of the use of power tools, home repair and other necessary skills so that they become self empowering by doing projects on their own, thereby, becoming an asset to the community, themselves, and their families. By offering women this knowledge, they will have the opportunity to create a better quality of life in their own living spaces and also those of their families and communities.

Women that are empowered and making healthy decisions become a positive element for a community. When women gain knowledge through the acquiring of marketable skills, as well as the “nuts and bolts” living skills, they are truly able to give back. They then have the choice to become interdependent rather than co dependent.

This empowerment has a positive “ripple” affect on the women and her immediate environment as well the community.

The Mission of LYT is to enable and empower women to “better” their life quality. LYT is about teaching women the “nuts and bolts” of marketable skills as well as basic life skills. This empowers them so that their future choices will enrich their lives, the lives of those around them and also the community in which they reside.
